Oil to Gas Conversion

The main reason to convert from oil to gas is efficiency, nothing more nothing less. Natural gas is approximately 9 to 10% higher than oil at this current time. So, if you pay $1000.00 to heat your home annually with natural gas, you will be paying about $900.00 for oil.

Can you answer these questions?
How old is your home?
How long have you lived there?
Have you replaced the heating system during your ownership, if yes when?

My goal here is for you to think how old your heating system is, these simple questions should allow you to understand if replacement is in your future. How long should a heating system last anyway? Heating systems are like cars. How many 15 year old cars do you see on the road today? Not too many, and if you do it's an antique. I have seen many antiques in my career. Some systems I come in contact with are systems older than myself. Currently I'm 41 and have the knowledge and expertise to fix and repair any situation. However I cannot fix efficiency and make it better. Is your system is 15 years or older? Then it's time to start thinking about a replacement to gain better efficiency.

If your system is 20+ years old you are way behind the efficiency curve.
The reasons to convert are greater than to stay the same. Here's a list of just some of the benefits:

Better efficiency, current and existing oil burner's measure efficiency by how much heat goes up the chimney! Modern gas systems are designed to draw combustion air from outside your home and use it to make a more efficient flame. Gas systems are also designed to extremely high standards imposed by AGA [American Gas Association] and ANSI [American National Standards Institute]

Less maintenance, Because gas is a cleaner fuel to burn, there's less maintenance than its counterpart oil. Oil does gunk up within the firing chamber and can "puff back" if you have ever lived through this you'll understand. Here's an example of a puff back; let's imagine you have a bucket of West Virginia coal dust and a helicopter rotor in your basement. The rest is fairly simple to understand the two together create one gigantic silty dusty mess. So if you don't perform annual maintenance on your oil system you have that visual to look forward too. Natural gas systems simply burn cleaner and do not require the annual maintenance.

Quieter/Cleaner, I think the cleaner part has been covered, Oil systems are distinctly louder than gas system. Oil has the audible level of a motor running in your basement, gas systems do not.

Less of a carbon foot print, please see our payback calculator to check your carbon foot print. Here's the definition from Webster's on line, A measure of the amount of carbon dioxide emitted through the combustion of fossil fuels. A carbon footprint is often expressed as tons of carbon dioxide or tons of carbon emitted, usually on an annual basis. No more large oil tank in the basement or worse in the buried in the ground!
